It’s Like the Full Moon- chapter 5.2 (wip)

“I’m not in on anything, Becca,” said Virgil. “She called me up and spoke to me on the phone one day for a very long time; she did a lot of yelling, screaming, blaming, and eventually forgiving, accepting, apologizing, and crying. She wants to make things right Rebecca.”

“I just don’t know if I can Virgil, I mean, she really hurt me,” Rebecca said, almost in tears.

“I know she hurt you and we all know she was wrong, but she lost her one and only child. She lost her son, Becca. A mother doesn’t just brush that under a rug and go on living as though nothing happened. So she wasn’t in her right mind for a while, give her a break.”

“Thats okay Lisa. You were just trying to be a good friend,” said Rebecca. “I told you it was all going to work out, and as for Virgil; just because he doesn’t sweep me off my feet daily, doesn’t mean I can’t love him. I love him for everything else he does.”
“Your right Becca,” said Lisa. “I mean, what do I really know about love. If you love Virgil, then I love Virgil, and I hope you two will be happy together.” Lisa and Rebecca held each other in the full embrace of two loving sisters. Whatever happened in their pasts or futures to come, they’d be there for each other. After a few tears and several laughs, the two friends reentered the dulling down party inside.

Lisa stood back at the bar and sipped her wine as she watched Teddy twirl his sister around her tiny apartment for his own personal amusement and the satisfaction of the adoring crowd around them. He looked quite handsome sporting his new rugged look and completely ignoring the pretty coed he’d brought to the party. Rebecca could sense Lisa’s glare as she tried to enjoy herself, but she knew she’d eventually have to talk to her to keep her from causing one of those dramatic scenes she so loved to have at her family functions.

When the song was over Teddy kissed Rebecca on the cheek and two parted ways. Teddy slipped off to entertain his date and Rebecca pretended to look for Virgil. “Hey Lisa,” said Rebecca coly, “Where did Virgil run off to?”
