#Question of the Month: a #bloghop to think about. No. 4- “What’s the best job you’ve ever had?”

A little while ago, Michael D’Agostino, of A Life Examined, brought up the idea of a new blog hop called Question of the Month. He thinks blog readers would like to know a little more about us, the bloggers. So we’re all gathering to show you guys who we are by taking part in the Question of the Month blog hop. On the first Monday of each month, we answer the question that gets posted here.

This month’s question is: “What’s the best job you’ve ever had?”

I’ve had many jobs and most I haven’t thought were what I’d consider a dream job, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t like some of them. When I worked as an admin for a local production company, the hours were good, the office was quiet, making my tedious but simple task pleasant to do, but the pay was a joke.

When I had a nice paying job, the work sucked the life out of me. Now that I’m a special education teacher’s assistant, I don’t even think about money, it would just be cruel to myself to do so. Respect is out the window as well since teachers are currently the scapegoats for everything wrong with society even though we don’t have any control over the system. I do this job solely for the kids.

So, looking back at all the jobs I’ve done, I’d have to say college tutor was my best gig. For that time and place in my life, the pay was good, the hours were great, the clients were willing and cooperative adults who wanted my help and I wanted to help them.

The only job that could possibly top that would be if I could somehow manage to work from home making enough to pay my bills and still write.

About Toi Question of the Month

#Question of the Month: a bloghop to think about. No. 3- Would you turn family in to the cops?

A little while ago, Michael D’Agostino, of A Life Examined, brought up the idea of a new blog hop called Question of the Month. He thinks blog readers would like to know a little more about us, the bloggers. So we’re all gathering to show you guys who we are by taking part in the Question of the Month blog hop. On the first Monday of each month, we answer the question that gets posted here.

This month’s question is: “If your parent or child committed a major crime, would you turn them in?”

The first thing I considered when I saw this question was, “What’s the major crime?”

The reason I asked myself this question is because of the current political/racial tension in the U.S. I’m not going to go into a spiel about right and wrong or ask if you care about “black live.” The reason this question popped up is because sometimes things that aren’t crimes now, once were. For example:

-In some states marijuana is now legal.
-Gay marriage is legal.
-And for those of you who pretend not to remember, there was a time when interracial marriage was a crime, and so on…but of course I realize that these aren’t major crimes.

Now, I’m not here to advocate for or against anything, but I wanted to explain why I take justice a lot more serious than I do “crime”. Yes some crimes are clearly wrong, but many others are founded in popular opinion or are a sign of the times.

So to answer the question, if a family member killed someone or stole from someone, yes I would turn them in. There are probably other “crimes” for which I would do the same, but I would evaluate the situation as is arose and not apply a blanket reaction.

#Question of the Month: a bloghop to think about. No. 2- 3 things you’d do w/out fear?

*In a rush to start my vacation, I posted this a week early. Oops. 🙂 Now let’s see if I remember to come back and participate when everyone posts theirs.*

This month’s question is: What are three things that you’d do tomorrow if you weren’t blocked by fear?

I tried really hard to think of three things, but there aren’t many things I haven’t done because of fear. Most of the things I haven’t done have been due to circumstances and resources or a lack there of.

1. I’d tell certain people what I really think of them.

2. I’d leave my life behind and start over on a farm somewhere. My husband would, of course, be along for move. We’re tight like that.

In the words of Forrest Gump, “That’s all I have to say about that.”
