Eternal Curse: Battleground- chapter 5.4 (wip)

“Miss Mira,” said the young woman. She stared down at me, not with a look of amazement like all the others, but a look of suspicion. “Your husband is a half-breed; how is this so?”

Mira and I both looked up. Mira reached for the young woman’s hand and pulled her close. Mira asked her in a stern whisper. “Lisa, what do you know of half-breeds?”

Lisa answered, “My family, we are ScAvengers,” she said. “You two should come with me quickly. Someone else will come along to clean all this up. We Chandlers will be able to help you.” Mira and I quickly gathered our things and followed Lisa.

A Day In My Life: September ‘14: Summer’s End

dayNlife

You may or may not find this surprising, but as a writer I’ve never been much of a journaler (I like making up words). I’ve always kept writing, sketching, and poetry notebooks, but I’ve never really liked writing about myself. This monthly post is my attempt at rectifying that and is an opportunity for me to get a little personal, as I share a single event from my life.

Summer’s End

For me, summer is officially over despite the lack of an Equinox. Once the kids go back to school, and us teachers, it’s all over. Don’t let me paint you a bad picture though. While the end of Summer can be sad, the coming of Fall has its perks to. I’m ready for sweater and scarf weather, but am glad the snow is many months off.

Just as last year, here I am at the Love Jones Luau with my Family. Time with family is more precious than gold.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you like it let me know and share it with others. See you next time, Toi Thomas. #thetoiboxofwords

Sample Sunday 48: GIOVANNI’S ANGEL

These samples can include excerpts from my all my WIPs and my Eternal Curse Series, but only as works in progress (not the final products). Eternal Curse: Giovanni’s Angel chapter 6.0 (wip)

Mira’s work consisted of taking scrapings of Giovanni’s skin and tongue, clippings of his hair and nails, and many other samples, as well as drawing blood with much difficulty. Every time Mira approached Giovanni’s body, he seemed to tense up in a way that Mira had never seen before. His body reacted by becoming defensive. It was almost as though Giovanni had to give Mira permission before she was able to gather samples from his body. The surface of his skin seemed to change in texture, becoming denser, and his veins appeared to be hiding or blending in with their surrounding tissue.

Mira’s work was slowed by what she thought were mechanical and electrical difficulties with the lab equipment. Many times the sensors would sound off or display fatal readings for Giovanni while he was being examined.
