Eternal Curse: Battleground chapter 1.3(wip)

Life was hard for Sheldon in a way I constantly tried to understand, but never really could. Growing up, Sheldon was a great big brother, very loving and protective and also playful. As we both grew and changed, our lives and relationship became complicated. Now that I was bigger than him, he was having trouble dealing with the new dynamic of our relationship. He resented having to pretend to be my little brother around humans, which it seemed we were around more and more. Mom was the one who always seemed to make everything balance out just right, and now she was gone.

Eternal Curse: Battleground chapter 1(wip)

For as long as I could remember, Mom had always worn her hair up in a bun. I’d seen digital imprints of her when she was younger, wearing her hair down, and thought that she looked much prettier that way. Her hair was a medium length for her face and it was very dark and wavy. I always thought that when she wore her hair down, it made her look like the kind of person who really knew how to have fun.

I stood in front of my reflecting shield looking at myself wishing that I could see her facial features looking back at me. No matter how hard I wished, her features just weren’t there.  I wasn’t tall and voluptuous like she was, and my skin wasn’t dark like hers either. My hair was long, thin, and curly and my skin was fair.

Eternal Curse: Battleground chapter 1(wip)

I stood there cold, shivering, and sulking staring out the viewing portal of my quarter. I’d placed my face so close to the plastic pane that I could fog it up with the subtle blowing of my trembling breath. I was trying to focus on anything I could to keep myself from crying yet again, a task that had begun to offer me a weird kind of comfort. I was so tired of crying, but what could I really do about it; I was sad and grieving. I looked down and watched as the day laborers were struggling to set up the tents and move in chairs, in the midst of the torrential downpour that was pounding against them.
