Count Your Blessings 04: Creativity

blessings

Creativity

Creativity is a blessing, though many may not know it. Creativity and intellect are not guaranteed counterparts. Some people are very smart, but lack creativity to produce something using their intellect. There’s no question that even the simplest of minds is capable of creating amazing things even if only through artistic expression. Creativity is the one defining factor that has made our world, maybe not better, but more appealing and more comfortable. Creativity can arise from necessary, but it doesn’t have to. I’m blessed to a creative person, but even if I wasn’t, I’d still be blessed to live in a world with so many other creative people.

Count Your Blessings 03: Time

blessings

Time

Does time really exist or is it simply a manifestation of man’s desire to calculate and control the world in which we live?…uuhhhh whatever.

I’m grateful for my clocks, my watches, my schedules, and my calendars. Time is on my side as long as I don’t waste it. I’m blessed to have a concept of time. I know I won’t live forever and though I don’t know when my time will be up, I grateful to have a concept that lets me plan ahead just in case.

Count Your Blessings 02: Sunshine

blessings

Sunshine

Like the vegetation of this planet, people need sunlight to grow (healthy). Sunlight is important for a number of different physical and medical reasons, but I think is essential to the human psyche. Have you ever noticed how melancholy people are when it’s been cloudy for a long time? They miss the sunshine because it gives them a sense of hope.

Where I went to college, there was a three to four month period where the sun just went away. It would peek through the clouds and around hill and mountain tops from time to time, but there were very few full days of sunny sunshine. Those were the toughest times of the term. Everything and everyone was tired, ached, and lacked cheer.

When the sunny season returned, life was good again, then exams kicked in (oh well J). People need sunshine and not to improve their tans. Why is it that in all the post-apocalyptic movies and books are the people always living underground, sad, and just scraping by? It may be fiction, for the time being, but there’s something to this notion of not needing the sun to survive.

I’m blessed to have sunshine, not because I need it, but because it makes me happy and feel good.
