Happy Birthday to Me!

So far, for my birthday, I’ve gotten a cute blue beret, a new dress, the DC network,  a sewing machine, and I’m spending the day with my hubby. I am very blessed.

Also, just in time for my birthday, I’ve released two new books. These two books are part of an effort, a dream of mine to start a book fair in my local area. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these two books go directly to that cause. To learn more about my dream to start a book fair, please visit, Lit Carnivale.com.

Carnie Loves Books – Amazon

Carnie is a bookworm with one love in his life- books. When Carnie loses his reading glasses, he goes on a search to find them. Read along as Carnie searches for his glasses and professes his love for reading books. 100% of proceeds supports Lit Carnivale, a book fair in the making.

Ain’t Nobody Got Time For Book Reviews! – Amazon

Have you ever wondered why it seems authors are often whining about book reviews? What’s the big deal anyway? How much of a difference could your one book review really make? In this opinion piece, ten-time self-published author and blogger, Toi Thomas, discusses candidly why book reviewing culture isn’t what it should be.

This is not a book about how to write book reviews and it is not a how-to book for authors to gain book reviews. This is a book about reevaluating your thought-process and opinions about book reviewing culture.

Toi Thomas clearly understands that “Ain’t nobody got time for book reviews” when there are so many more important things for a book lover to do. Right? Plus, you can read this book from cover to cover in less than two hours. 100% of proceeds go to support Lit Carnivale, a book fair in the making.

I’m also celebrating over at A Small Gang of Authors today if you want to check it out.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you like it let me know and share it with others. See you next time, Toi Thomas. #thetoiboxofwords

Reblog: Labor Day – More than the end of summer #OurAuthorGang

Happy Labor Day U.S.A.!

Today over at A Small Gang of Authors, co-member Ruth de Jauregui offers a history on the origins of the Labor Day celebrations. Check it out.

As we celebrate the 124th Labor Day, enacted by Congress on June 28, 1894, we may reflect on the how and why of the workingman’s holiday.

Labor Day has its roots in the Industrial Revolution and the evolution of labor unions. In the late 1800s, a typical work week consisted of a 12-hour day, seven days a week. Five and six year old children worked in mills, factories and mines. Working conditions were often unsafe….” Read more at A Small Gang of Authors.

Juneta Key presents: Toi Thomas Romance vs. Love Story

Happy Valentine’s Day. Sorry, I’m a bit late. No part of my day has gone quite according to plan, but hey, I’m here and I love that you are too. Please check me out over at the Juneta Key Speculative Fiction blog, the Writer’s Gambit …

A romance and a love story is not the same thing. It took me a while to realize that. I once had someone (a male of the human species) tell me that Superman Returns was a chick flick (a romance specifically) because of the way the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane was portrayed…. Read more at the Writer’s Gambit.

There’s also a really sweet post by Rebecca Tran over at A Small Gang of Authors you might want to check out.
