Thanks for stopping in today. It really means a lot, especially since I’m so insecure at the moment. This is probably one of the few times in my life that my anxiety is completely self-imposed. I haven’t done a good job a following through lately, which is not like me, and I’m afraid it may be too late. Whether there’s still time or not, I’m going to make every effort to finish what I’ve started. If I fail, hopefully I’ll at least learn something from it.
1) I’ve been meaning to start my author interview series again. I have several interested, but I’ve dropped the ball. I will try reaching out to the interested parties this week.
2) I’ve been blindsided in my priorities. I have several WIPs going, as do many writers, but I’ve become a little distracted with the task of attempting to illustrate 5 children’s books I’ve written. It’s all a matter of discipline and time management, but still…
3) I recently tanked on a very rare opportunity. I don’t really want to talk about it because I’m still very disappointed in myself. Part of me feels like if it was truly meant to be, I would have made it happen and another part of me feels like that the opportunity presented itself once, I’m willing to wait however long for it to present itself again. (I’m trying not to beat myself up too much even though I know I messed up.)
4) I’m hoping to finish the 3rd part of my Eternal Curse Series by the end of summer so I can start sending it out to betas (assuming I can find some betas).
5) I’m so looking forward to my summer vacation.

Have you dropped the ball recently?
Got any illustrating tips?

Sometimes we say yes too quick and forget that the opposite of yes is no. I know how you feel because I’ve been there. There are times when we drop the ball because we get so caught up in pressing situations that are happening in our everyday lives. We see other projects or opportunities from a long distance standpoint when really the projects or opportunities in the distance have a higher priority and should be done first so that they don’t become urgent tasks that we throw together in their completion. I learned this by reading two books by Stephen Covey, First Things First and the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.
I hope this help you Toi. Hang in there. You’ll going to come out and be one experience richer.

Thanks Pat. I needed to hear that. I’ve read Seven Habits… but it’s been a long time. Perhaps I’ll pick up First Things First.
I had grand plans to release a collection of short stories via Amazon before or during the A to Z challenge so I could use that blog hop as a promotional tool. That didn’t happen. So then I thought I get it done by early May around the time of an anthology release I was part of. Didn’t happen. Now I’ve got until Monday (sort of) because I signed up to be a guest on a blog site where I will give away a free copy of this book. And it’s still not uploaded, but I am getting close. Oh Argh.
I hope it all works out. Being part of the anthology should give you a boost. I’ve only done one and would love to do another. Collaborating with other authors always seems to motivate me in my other pursuits- guess that’s why interviewing authors is so important to me. Good luck on your release.
Illustrate five books? Wow!
Don’t beat yourself up. Things happen for a reason. You won’t miss an opportunity next time, that’s for sure.
Thanks for that. I believe you’re right. Some mistakes (or twists of fate 😉 ) only get made once.
You’re a teacher, right? Summer’s almost here. Anxieties will lift soon.
I know. I can’t wait. I really need to relax.
The person who is always hardest on you is yourself. Not everything works out. You just have to hope that when it does, it work out really well. But that’s life.
You’re right. I’ll keep at it and see what happens.
Thanks for that.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for your support. I am grateful:) I mess up all the time too. At least you are already telling yourself to embrace the next opportunity, which is good. And there will be more opportunities. So, definitely give yourself a break. Have a good vacation. Take care.
Thank you.
