Mira’s Closet: 5/19/14: Style Statement

MClosetMira’s no fashionista, but she definitely has her own sense of style…
And now here’s an update on just that.

First an observation: I don’t like pink, on me. I actually think pink is a very pretty color; I’m just not a very pink kind of girl. Usually when I say that I get the feeling people expect me to wear all black or denim overalls. BTW- I look awesome in black and I adore my overalls, but that’s not the point. I also happen to look good in yellow, all shades and hues of blue, brown, red, purple, and occasionally green. Have I worn pink before? Yes. Will I wear it again? Maybe if it’s for a good cause (hint hint wink wink 😉 ) I simply prefer to wear colors I feel comfortable in on a daily basis. That’s just one part of my personal style statement. How about you?

Mira’s Closet: 4/21/14: What do clothes say?

MClosetMira’s no fashionista, but she definitely has her own sense of style…
And now here’s an update on just that.

First an observation:What a person wears doesn’t define them, but sometimes you can learn a lot about a person from their attire in certain situations. When someone who typically wears bright colors suddenly shows up in something dark or black, they may be trying to make a statement or come off more serious or stern than usual. For someone who wears dark clothing a lot, when they want to impress someone or seem more inviting they may try some lighter colors. But that’s just colors- what about styles. Do different styles say something about the person wearing them? I once had a friend who refused to wear jeans unless some sort of manual labor was involved. To him, denim lacked class. That’s what I like about fashion; there’s something for everyone even if everything isn’t for someone in particular, just like this blog. 🙂

Day in a Life

A Day in My Life: Mar. ’14: Bling

dayNlife

You may or may not find this surprising, but as a writer I’ve never been much of a journaler (I like making up words). I’ve always kept writing, sketching, and poetry notebooks, but I’ve never really liked writing about myself. This monthly post is my attempt at rectifying that and is an opportunity for me to get a little personal, as I share a single event from my life.

******************************************************************************

March 2014 – Bling

There is so much going on, and not going on, in my life right now. I’m in a weird place. I’m struggling to promote a book no one seems to be interested in buying. Everyone just wants me to give it away. I’ve been overlooked and ignored by so many and yet I keep a smile on face and act as though all is well.

In spite of my feelings, I make a point not to hurt others with my sorrow.

I try to be loving and supportive to my family and friends whenever possible- in the end, I always feel better when I’ve done something good for someone else.

My sister and her friend, a new business partner, have started an online jewelry boutique with a unique twist. It’s called, December 10. I recently had the pleasure of going to a party in horror of this endeavor. The food was wonderful, the laughs were plentiful, and the jewelry was economically priced and dazzling. It was a good time!
