Eternal Curse: Giovanni’s Angel chapter 8.2 (wip)

Back when I thought we would be married, I allowed him to become a partner in some of my business endeavors. My research foundation exists as two distinct entities. One focuses on the study of the human condition, to which my private practice is managed under, and the other is unlimited in its ambitions.

My ex is trying to shut me out of, at least part of, my own company. He’s trying to conduct tests that go well beyond the guidelines of proper human research set forth by every major intellectual mind in the past century. He wants to use my resources to justify and perform his experiments. The thing that bothers me most, is that I don’t think he’s even that dedicated to his psychotic pursuits. I mostly think he’s angry at the world and he’s angry with me. He’s trying to hurt me for leaving him.

Eternal Curse: Giovanni’s Angel chapter 8.1 (wip)

I began to catch my breath as I looked around. I reached for my lantern and lit it. I looked down and pulled up the blanket I’d thrown over him. There lay this boy, a youth almost a man my age, but still a child. I remember thinking that he was pale, not quite white, but definitely lacking in color under the night sky. His body was bloody and bruised. There was a rope hanging from around his visibly bruised neck.

I reached down and tried to cradle him in my arms. I turned his head to look into his eyes, to see if he was conscious, but my reflexes were overloaded as my whole body jumped when my skin touched his. It felt like lightening was running through my body and pulling at me somehow. Then he looked at me. His eyes were black like charcoal; I’d never seen anything like it. It startled me so, that I let go of him and stumbled back a few feet.

Eternal Curse: Giovanni’s Angel chapter 8.0 (wip)

The year was 1929. I was barely a man myself when Giovanni and I first met. I had just turned twenty years old and I was engaged to a sweet, small town girl with a thirst for knowledge. Her family was more than just poor; they were desperate. She’d worked a job since the age of eight. When I met Sarah, I knew right away that I’d spend the rest of my life taking care of her and making her happy. I always thought it was somehow cosmic or predetermined for me to love her the way I do, given that my name is Abraham and her’s is Sarah.
