Count Your Blessings 19: Sleep

blessings

Sleep

If you’ve ever suffered from extreme insomnia and seen the effects that a lack of sleep causes the body, there’s no need for me to explain the importance of sleep to you. I think a lot of people take sleep for granted. It’s a natural process for people; everyone does it, but what happens if you can’t sleep or worse, you are kept from sleeping.

I currently live in a part of the world where you are taught to get six to eight hours of sleep a night, but what about people who live in places where sleep only comes after all the work has been done. Not everyone in the world gets that much sleep, even if they should. I’m blessed because I get to sleep for hours at a time without worrying about when or how I’ll be awakened.

Count Your Blessings 18: Farms

blessings

Farms

I adore gardens and to me farms are just big gardens, but of course, they usually also come with livestock.  You can’t feed the people of the world without farms no matter how advanced our technology gets.

There are all kinds of farms, but unfortunately, farmers aren’t giving the credit and respect they’re due anymore. Farming is a lot of hard work and unless you have a specialty product, most governments aren’t willing to pay much for your efforts.  Still, to be able to live off the fruits of your labor, to some, beats working in an office.

I’m blessed to live in a world that’s still in good enough condition that farms are able to sustain themselves, even though it’s not as easy as it used to be.

Count Your Blessings 17: Music

blessings

Music

I do so adore music in all its many forms. Music is powerful. It bridges gaps and connects people. It crossed lines of age, race, religion, nationality, and more. Music is so dynamic that it has been praised, fear, and scorned over ages. Music can make you want to laugh, cry, pray, dance, sleep, run, hit something, make love, and so much more.

It still blows my mind that there are people in the world who actually don’t like music. I can understand not liking a certain kind of music, but to have no regard for music in general baffles me. I accept that there is nothing wrong with not liking music, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it, especially when I feel so blessed to live in a world with so many musical options.
