It’s Inauguration Day!

Yes, today is the day that former Vice President Joe Biden gets sworn in as the next President of the United States. I am not here to debate anything, that’s just what’s happening.

I would like to take a brief moment to redirect the spotlight off the President to recognize our newest Vice President.

From Wikipedia- Official portrait, 2017.

Kamala Harris will be the first woman to serve in this executive role.

She will be the first African American to serve in this role.

She will be the first woman of Indian-Asian descend to serve in this role.

And for bonus diversity points, her husband will be the first Second Gentleman and the first Jewish spouse to a vice president.

A movement I found on Facebook has asked women to wear pearls today (one of Harriss’s signature accessories) in honor of the many firsts Vice President Harris brings to the United States in 2021.

This is history being made.

So, that’s me in my pearls.
