#IWSG April 2019: I’ll be back

72b25-iwsg2bbadge

Created and hosted by the Ninja himself, Alex J. Cavanaugh, the Insecure Writers Support Group posts the 1st Wednesday of every month. Click the image to learn more or sign up.

Optional Monthly Question: If you could use a wish to help you write just one scene/chapter of your book, which one would it be?

I feel like I’m a strong starter, but not so great at ending. I think I’d use my wish to write a satisfying end. However, the project I’ve been working on for a while could probably use a couple of wishes- but oh well. Guess I’ll just keep plugging at it.

Now, on to the personal updates.

I keep moving up in my day job, but I had to put my foot down an say no more. Because of all that, I haven’t been online in over three weeks. Sooooo….

See you next month.

Hi,
It is so nice to hear you keep getting promoted in your day job, but I can very well understand that it robs you of time that you would like to spend writing. Hoping that you learn how to say NO and keep time slots open for your writing.
All the best.

I thought I’d felt this before, but I was wrong. I actually love the job I’m currently working, so it’s hard to say no. Still, as much as I love my job, my writing is part of me. I have to have time for it or I won’t be able to enjoy myself in other aspects of life. One thing that has helped is focusing on writing only, and not worrying about publishing anything right now.

Endings have often been my weakness too, but my “wish” comes in the form of editors who make me go back to the drawing board and write a better one. 🙂

Congrats on your success at work! Hope you still have time for writing.

Thanks for the kind words. I really enjoy my job and have been able to keep writing, but unfortunately I’ve had to give up all social media. Whenever I prepare to publish something again, it would be nice to wish for the perfect editor who helps me enhance my work while correcting my grammar and syntax.

In this instance, moving up does come with more pay, but it also come with more responsibility. I’ve given myself some time to figure out how to balance it all. Hopefully, by the next IWSG post, I’ll be back online and track.

No, they’ve actually been very understanding, giving me time to adjust to added responsibilies and allowing me to turn some down. I’m very blessed to be doing something I love with a good comparny that cares about their employees. Now I just have to figure out a way to balance these new job responsibilities with my writing life.

If I could end stories as strong as I start them I’d be a much less frustrated writer, but I guess it can’t all come too easy. Thanks for your encouragement. It’s been very helpful being offline, but I also feel disconnected from the writing community I’ve come to rely on. I hope to find a balance and come back to it soon.

I’m a strong starter, too. I usually have the endings worked out in my head. It’s the in-between that gives me fits. Best of luck to you, Toi.

I find that I’m really good at outlining the in-between stuff but then I struggle to translate it into something enjoyable to read. Still, that’s easier for me than coming up with a good ending, even when I know how I want it to end. Thanks for the encouragement.

Getting a story from point A to point B sounds easy, but filling in everything in the middle can be challenging. Thanks for stopping by Juneta.

I’ve been trying to put something togethre for WEP, but not sure I’ll make the deadline. I may just share what I have, incomplete, and read all the other entries. I have a few more days to see what I can do. Thanks for stopping by Roland, and thanks for checking in on me. It means a lot.
