Just wanted to post a quick update for anyone who thinks I disappeared off the face of the earth. I became very sick, very suddenly. I didn’t see it coming and it put me out of complete commission for more than a week. I barely did more than eat and sleep for a week. So, now that I’m feeling better, I’m playing catch up.

Most of these posts are purely biographical in nature, but can shed light on what inspires Toi’s writing and tend to be quite entertaining. As of October 2015, these posts have all been combined under the About Me label.
Blog and YouTube Updates
So, guess who forgot to schedule this post last night? ME!
Well, I made it back to YouTube towards the end of 2018 and then disappeared again. Luckily, it’s a new year and a new day (I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot. 😉 )
Over on my YouTube channel, I have the usual things lined up as well as a few new things. I’m hosting author interviews again and have a new flexible format that should suit anyone. If you are interested in a video interview, sign up here.
Right here at The ToiBox of Words, I also plan to feature more authors. I have author interviews lined up and a few guest posts too. If you’d like to be featured on this blog, sign up here. I’m also trying to start reader interviews over at my Lit Carnivale blog, but haven’t had much interest. If you are interested, let me know here.
Over at A Small Gang of Authors, today, we have a cool post of various authors sharing why they write. Tomorrow I’ll be continuing 1 of my 3 ongoing series, Would You Read This? where I pitch story blurbs/taglines and mock book covers. I hope you’ll check it out, and if you are interested in guest posting over there, check this out.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you like it let me know and share it with others. See you next time, Toi Thomas. #thetoiboxofwords
If Christmas isn’t quite your thing, there’s a lovely December Holiday post over at A Small Gang of Authors, which hopefully has something for everyone.

I did a lot in 2018. Some things I tried this year were huge successes while I’ve decided to count the rest as learning experiences. Here at The ToiBox of Words, I’ve cut down on my posts, but I haven’t disappeared. I’m still here and have no plans on leaving anytime soon.
The top post for 2018 was the September post of the IWSG blog hop, which I co-hosted that month. Plus, I featured 5 guest authors with either interviews or some other content. I’m really thinking of going back to featuring more authors next year.
In 2018, I also started the process of fulfilling a dream to start my own book fair, which is an extreme work in progress and I’m okay with that.
I also released two new books; a children’s book and a work of nonfiction.
I also completed my Goodreads challenge, even if I didn’t keep up with reporting it on YouTube (oh well, there’s always next year). In any case, my goal was to read 60 titles (not necessarily novel-length books, though I did read about 30 of those). And, for some reason, Goodreads counted one of my own books in the count, so it shows that I read one more book than I actually did. :/
2018 Reading Challenge
And lastly, it was a good year over at A Small Gang of Authors.

For me, Christmas is more than just another holiday. While to some I come off as a grinch, others know this time of year is special to me. I love spending time with my family, remembering the birth of Christ, and having time to reflect on the year. I don’t like materialism, passing judgment and hate, insensitivity, and so much more.
It breaks my heart, that while I accept the fact that many people in the world don’t share my beliefs, there are others out there who hate me or people like me for choosing to believe. I have many friends who practice different faiths than mine and some who practice nothing at all, yet we’ve all found a way to accept each other. My hope for this Christmas, and for every day, is that people learn not to judge one person on the actions of others and that people learn to accept the differences of others and live in harmony.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you like it let me know and share it with others. See you next time, Toi Thomas. #thetoiboxofwords
