Optional Monthly Question: Other than the obvious holiday traditions, have you ever included any personal or family traditions/customs in your stories?
I don’t think I’ve done this yet, not really. I’d like to, though. I have found that when I tell people about some of my family’s traditions, they say “Oh, that’s really cool,” or “Oh, we don’t do anything like that.” I might write some short stories about them.

IWSG Book Club News
We recently had a poll up for our February/March 2020 fiction book selection demonstrating characterization. The top two books tied. Instead of the book club moderators voting for one selection, we’ve decided to do something different and have TWO book options for you to choose from.
The Lovely Bones | Chill Factor This is the one I’m currently reading.
Discussion Day is March 25.
WEP-IWSG
At the time I wrote this post, I don’t believe a winner for the February challenge had been announced, but you can read my entry here if you’d like. I had some fun with this one.

Now, on to the personal updates.
I got no writing done in February other than my WEP challenge. I’ll have to do better next month.
I did two different February reading wrap-ups. I posted my reviews over at Lit Carnivale, along with a video. I recorded just a wrap-up video on my personal YouTube channel, which will be featured below. Had some major technical difficulties….updated 3-5-20.
I’m sure there’s more to say, but it’s been a long short month. See you next time.

Have you ever written about some of your family’s traditions?
Did you meet any writing goals last month?
Read any good books lately?
It may take some time, but I promise, will stop by your blog.

I finally managed to finish the most recent read-through/revision of my last manuscript. I also got about 9,500 new words last month, so not so bad for a month where I was actively revising.
I hope you do write something about your family traditions, someday. Most of my family traditions work out to “Pretend that Everything is Perfectly Normal.”
Happy IWSG day.
Congrats on your revisions and new words. Hope it continues moving forward.
I have and will continue to do so. I get inspiration and motivation from the memories the traditions brought.

I too have been inspired by my traditions but have yet to write specifically about them. I hope to change that soon.
Two books gives people options.
The traditions question is a challenge for people this month.
I’m really glad we decided to give the option of two books. Chrys really knows how to run a good book club.
Hi,
That’s something that you should really think about doing. It sounds like those stories about your family traditions are captivating.

I think anyone with family traditions must feel that they are special; but, I get stuck on feeling that was I think is special others won’t. I need to get over that.
I didn’t get much writing done at all last month (in direct contrast to January). February was just an awful month for me. I hope March is better for the both of us.
Yes, a wish for writing sounds nice. I’d hoped being stuck at home would help but it really hasn’t. Got too much other stuff to worry about, but I’m sure it’ll all work out.
I did find a book: The Forest for the Trees by Betsy Lerner. It took the bite out of my rejections and filled me with hope. 🙂
Anna from elements of emaginette
We actualy read that in the IWSG book club a while back. It was a good read.
Entering a solid WEP flash fiction is quite a nice bit of writing, and I remember I enjoyed reading yours. Give yourself a pat on the back.
Thanks C. Lee. I guess I did get some writing in, and some is better than none.
I enjoyed your piece as well. It was clever.
Didn’t you have an event last month? Writing WEP and the videos plus that will keep you busy.
I did have an event. I forget sometimes how much I do. I guess I sometimes just want to do too much. Need to prioitize better.
I’m reading Chill Factor too. Actually my 2nd time read because she is a favorite author I have been reading for years.
I haven’t read her before, but I really liked this book. I may have to read some of her other works.
I did more writing in February than I did in January (none) so I’ll take it! Hoping for even more this month.
That’s good.
Looking back, I realize, some writing is better than no writing.
Family traditions… I blog about them from time to time. As for incorporating them in fiction writing, not really. Perhaps I should!
I think I’m gonna try it.
I bet you would come up with something very clever.
Ooh Toi, thank you for your video book reviews, reading list. That was fun, and so intimate. I felt I was sipping morning coffee with you on your couch.
Good March reading to you. Just finished reading the Hazel Wood by. Melissa Albert, precious. As good as The Magicians trilogy by Lev Grossman, if you like that sort of thing ….Good Luck on your book tour, see you in April. Take care.
Thank you so much for watching my video. I hope I’m able to keep doing them.
I haven’t read Hazel Wood yet, but it’s on my TBR.
