I am so blessed right now. Even though I am constantly overwhelmed, never seem to have enough time, and am leaping from one temporary illness to the other, and also seem to fall short no matter how hard I try…I have so much to be thankful for.

1. I have been meeting and promoting some really great authors as of late. I’m to glad to have an opportunity to help these authors spread the word about their work.

2. I have an amazing family, they are all so special to me. My sister is talented in ways she doesn’t even know and inspires me to pursue my dreams. My Mom is my biggest fan and my husband is so wonderful that I just had to write about him in “Dear Stick”.

3. I am getting closer and closer to my goal of being a successful published author. Needless to say, monetary gain isn’t how I judge success, but I’ll be even more thankful if and when the big bucks ever start rolling in.

I have three ebooks available for purchase and am now able to offer pre-orders for my first novel, Eternal Curse: Giovanni’s Angel, which is set to release on February 18, 2014. See Books and Pre-orders for details.

4. I made it to the second round of voting for the 50 Great Authors You Should Be Reading, which I still find amazing, and now I must wait to see how well I did. At this point it doen’t really matter, if I make it into the publication great, yay, hip hip hooray, and if i don’t it’s still been a fun ride.

5. And lastly, I’m so grateful that I am steadily writing, blogging, and reading my way through life. I’m networking and learning from others everyday and am so glad to be apart of this community.

A Day in My Life: Nov. ’13: Color Blank Party

dayNlife

You may or may not find this surprising, but as a writer I’ve never been much of a journaler (I like making up words). I’ve always kept writing, sketching, and poetry notebooks, but I’ve never really liked writing about myself. This monthly post is my attempt at rectifying that and is an opportunity for me to get a little personal, as I share a single event from my life.

November 2013 – Color Blank Party

My husband and I did something totally crazy a few weeks ago…We had people over! 😮

This may not seem like a big deal to you, but for a pair of loners, this is a big deal. Plus our place is small and we’re always leery of having people over and feeling cramped, but this event was a success. We served the best Apple Cider imaginable, a variety a sweet wines, fruit, and an array of cheeses and crackers. Then we sat around and randomly picked blank vinyl figures to decorate with Sharpies. It was a lot more fun than it probably sounds…We may actually have people over again…in a few months 😉 . Click here to see pictures of the event.

Review: Year Zero

Year Zero by Rob Reid

I give this book a 4.

LikeIt

This is a very entertaining read full of laughs and, oddly enough, a great deal of factual information I never knew. This story is so absurd that I’m not quite sure how to describe it.

Apparently advanced aliens, far across the galaxy, have been craving and downloading earth music because it’s the one thing the insufficient human race is actually good at (and the rest of the known universe is not). Then one day the superior aliens, through their mastery of legal principles, realize that they owe the people of earth an innumerous amount of royalties or something like that. While some aliens have decided to settle the matter in court, others have decided to just eliminate the problem all together. That’s where the intergalactic misadventures of lawyer Nick Carter (not to be confused with Backstreet Boy, Nick Carter) begin.

To say that the characters of this story are kooky would be an understatement. My favorite thing about the story isn’t technically apart of the story. I love the footnotes. The footnotes of this book are like a running commentary in a movie. They are informative, hilarious, and pleasantly distracting. Eventually I had to stop reading them to finish the story and then went back to read them in perspective. I guess if you’re not really a reader, this may not sound appealing.

All aliens aside, anyone who likes music will love this book. It’s also good for a laugh.
