And, the perks keep coming…
So, here’s the thing. I have found that while most writers are also readers, most readers have no desire to be writers. That’s one of the reasons I came up with my Lit Carnivale idea, but that’s a post for another day. Also, not all writers, aspiring or professional, want to feel obligated to buy every book from another writer just because they gave them some sound advice.
That’s why I wanted to create a way to share my insights with other writers, whether hobby, aspiring, or newly published, without making them feel obligated to support my creativity. Just because someone is willing to learn something from me or collaborate with me, doesn’t mean they should be bound to consume every creative thing I put out.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m better at helping others than I am at helping myself. I have to constantly remind myself to follow my own advice and continually need the support of other professionals to improve my skills. That’s why I want to be there to offer support to others. I want to offer writing tips, tricks, inspiration, and motivation. I want to offer writing prompts and exercises, feedback on story pitches, character arcs, and short line or paragraph edits. I’ll also offer collaboration opportunities, for fun and or promotion.
This tier, as Patreon calls it, will also give recognition to those supporting me financially without obligating these participants to indulge in my creative process. This is all about me helping other writers achieve their goals.
All this will be made available to anyone who chooses to become a WRITER on my page for $2 a month.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you like it let me know and share it with others. See you next time, Toi Thomas. #thetoiboxofwords #blacklivesmatter
