Eternal Curse: Giovanni’s Angel chapter 7.1 (wip)

Mira looked at Giovanni and reached for his hand. “The creation of life is one of the few things most people in the world will agree is a happy thing. Bringing in a fresh new harvest or seeing a young child; it’s all new life and it’s all beautiful,” Mira explained. Then, Mira’s hand finally touched Giovanni’s and a jolt of energy rushed through her body; and for the first time, Giovanni felt something, too.

Mira was actually beginning to enjoy and look forward to the sensation of Giovanni’s touch, while Giovanni was beginning to experience a new sensation of his own. His hand grew warm and he became dizzy. He didn’t understand it; he knew there was nothing physically wrong with him, but this new warming and dizzying sensation lingered a bit as he continued to walk along beside Mira holding her hand.

Better Off Dead – Mock Squid Soup No.5 #cinephiles #film #review

The internal laughs of anguish just keep on rolling on…But serieouly I will get myself together. As you may or may not have noticed, I forgot to post my movie review yesterday. Well, I forgot to watch the movie also. Luckily, I watched this movie about a year an a half ago and still have some images lingering in my mind. So for today, I will not do a full review, but will simply share some things I remember about this film: Better Off Dead.

Wikipedia

From what I remember of this film it’s an atypical, but typical 80s film. I think it’s kind of a spoof on the teen dramas of that time and so it’s very funny. But like the others of its time, this film has an underdog, a popular guy/villain/guy to beat, a pretty unobtainable love interest (a popular girl in this case), and quirky or deep supporting characters that make the rest of the film interesting.

Here are the things about this film that stand out in my mind:

“Two dollars. I want my two dollars!”

Ricky’s parents using their foreign exchange student like a mail order bride.

Lane thinking of some odd ways to kill himself.

As is typical with these types of movies, the stupid teenage boy who’s been killing himself the whole movie trying to win the affection of the popular girl, eventually realizes that the best girl for him is just next door. Oh and there’s a ski race.

It’s a sweet and funny movie; one I’ll probably watch again at some point.

Watch, rent, or buy this movie here.

Review: Ascension

Ascension (Gryphon #4) by Stacey Rourke

I give this book a 5.

LoveIt

This book begins just where the 3rd one left off. Celeste and the whole clan are an absolute hot mess, but they still manage to have a few laughs. The Gryphon has been quite for the whole series, but he’s about to start answering some questions. While the Council can no longer be counted on, The Conduit and her posse will stand strong and save the day, or die trying.

There is so much going on in the story that to try to sum it up would only confuse you and do no justice to this amazing story. Let me go ahead and warn you now that friends and enemies will die in the greatest battle Celeste could have ever imagined. Characters that you thought were gone will return while others you’re hoping will stop by, are officially laid to rest.

This is the most serious and emotional book in this  series, but like I said the laughs are still there, even up to point of making movie references while charging into battle.

This book is just how this series should end. I am happy!

I recommend that if you’re interested in this book, read the other three first, but as long as you have a sense of humor, you’ll be able to find something you like about this story. If you’re anything at all like me, you’ll love it.
